Geneva College Men's Rugby hosted the Grove City College on October 16, 2026, at Reeves Field.
Geneva came out ready to compete from the opening whistle. The first half was tightly contested, with Geneva matching Grove City physically and finding success on both sides of the ball. Across the lineup, everyone played their part as Geneva took a 12-10 lead into halftime.
The strong first half saw Geneva punching above its weight against a very solid Grove City team, showing the type of effort and physicality the team is capable of when everyone is working together.
Geneva continued to hold Grove City in check early in the second half, but as the match progressed, Grove City began finding more ground with each carry and putting increasing pressure on the Geneva defense. Geneva created opportunities of its own but struggled to turn positive moments into sustained attacking momentum or points.
Despite battling through the final whistle, Geneva was held scoreless in the second half as Grove City pulled away late to secure the 27-12 victory.
Although the result did not go Geneva’s way, the match showed plenty of positives. Geneva competed with a strong opponent for much of the night and received contributions across the entire lineup. The focus moving forward will be on building on those stretches of strong play and turning opportunities into more consistent results.
Man of the Match: Ethan Ledbetter — Ethan earned Man of the Match honors after a solid defensive performance for Geneva. He was a leader among the forwards defense and gathered a well-timed offload for a try.
Scoring:
Ethan Ledbetter (Senior Flanker) — 1 Try
Leo Devine (Junior Fullback) — 1 Try
Charles Butler (Junior Lock) — 1/2 Conversions
Geneva will look to clean up its attacking plan this week as the Golden Tornadoes prepare for another ARU matchup.
